Melissa Virus Registry Tweak Basically the virus does a couple things to your registry: It turns of your macro virus protection on both Word 97 and 2000 I sets that little "... by Kwyjibo" entry in your office settings once it has mail bombed your address lists. My tweak switches on your macro virus protection for both Word 97 and 2000, and places the "... by Kwyjibo" entry in the correct place to stop the virus from mail bombing. I.E. it checks for the entry and only mail bombs if it isn't there. This should assist you in the cleanup, it did me. Further things that may help: Replace your users normal.dot with a known clean copy (a bit extreme this!) Enforce email virus filtering with one of the better exchange virus protectors Enforce spam filtering to search for the subject line "Important Message - From " using one the many available spam filters. Set the normal.dot to read only if you know its clean. A point to remember: This strain of Melissa does not do any actually damage beyond shutting down your mail servers with heavy traffic. Its payload is only a silly message. There is almost certainly other nastier strains of this virus around. The reg tweak will stop the mail bombing but it WILL NOT stop you being infected or passing it on. Be vigilant.
